Messaging
Communication is key to a successful program at your school. Let your fans know that your school now has an NFHS Network channel where they can watch your videos (live or on demand), which games you plan to produce in the upcoming weeks and months, and how to subscribe, and the benefits of purchasing a subscription.
EJTV will offer complete coverage of our home basketball games this season. It's recommended that you purchase a season pass, or an annual pass that will take you through next fall's football and volleyball playoffs. These passes are not just for East Jefferson sports, but allow subscribers to see broadcasts of high school sports nationwide. You will also get access to an exclusive mobile app (iPhone and Android), and 50% of the proceeds from your purchase are returned to East Jefferson.  |
East Jefferson has partnered with the NFHS Network and our state athletic association, to broadcast the Saints athletic contests and of school events online. A subscription includes:

Email Campaigns
Most schools, athletic teams, booster clubs, PTAs, or extracurricular clubs have a mass emailing system. Check with your school to see if they will help spread the word about subscriptions and your broadcasts out to parents and the community.
- What do you send?
- We recommend using our subscription email template
attached below, or craft your own.
- When?
- Try to send email blasts out sparingly and at strategic times. You don’t want to overload your fans’ inboxes.
- Send at least one email before the current sports season begins to let fans know they can watch games live by purchasing a subscription.
- After the first week or so of the season, you may send another, slightly altered, email to remind fans that it’s not too late to subscribe and catch the action. Include highlights/videos from the season in this email.
- Any additional emails throughout the season should be sent sparingly. You don’t want to spam!
- How?
- If your school, club, or team has its own mass email service already, go ahead and use that!
- If not, you can send a LISTSERV or list of emails to us, and we’ll send out the emails through our mass email service on your behalf.
Flyers
Flyers can be printed out and posted in various places or included in certain information packets. They give you a way to reach an audience that you may not have email addresses for. Use the flyer template attached below.
- Post them at a local restaurant
- Attach them to the message board at a local coffee shop
- Include them in PTA Packets
- Include them in Booster Club Packets
- Mail them out to the community
Newsletter
Since newsletters go out on a scheduled, periodic basis, they are a great tool for getting your message out to the students, teachers, parents, and alumni.
- School Newsletter – "Purchasing a subscription gives your community the ability to stay connected through your broadcasts. Watch us this season live at www.nfhsnetwork.com!"
- Parent Newsletter – subscriptions allow parents to watch their kids compete in important athletic events and keep up with what is happening at their kids’ school.
- Alumni Newsletter – contributing through subscriptions not only gives alumni a creative way to give back to their alma mater, but it's also a way to track their high school’s athletics.
Announcements
A lot of information is communicated through announcements.
- Mention that the game is being broadcast live over the PA system during games
- Have your announcers say something during the broadcast, “If you are watching this game, thank you for your subscription! Your generous contribution helps support our school.”
- Mention that an upcoming game will be available online during morning announcements and assemblies.
- Post a snippet about upcoming broadcasts on your school's main website in the announcement and recent news section.
In-person
Word-of-mouth is one of the strongest marketing strategies out there. See if you can present your new plans to broadcast subscription events at:
- PTSA Meetings
- Booster Club Meetings
- AD/Coach’s Meetings
- Live demos at sporting events. Have a group of students demonstrate how to watch a game live on a tablet or smartphone. Be sure to have a flyer handy with instructions on how to buy a subscription!
There will be times that your broadcasting team may experience difficulties streaming. This could be due to the venue at your away game, or even a crowded stadium affecting your wireless Internet connection. If you run into a little trouble, let your viewers know that you are handling the situation.
The easiest way to communicate to viewers during your live streaming "situation" is to update the Description in PlayOn Manager.
- If you have enough Internet bandwidth, open a web browser and go to cms.playonsports.com
- Sign in
- Click on the name of your current event
- Click Edit
- In the Description field, consider typing in a message like this one:
This broadcast is experiencing technical difficulties and we are currently trying to fix the problem. If the stream cannot not be reestablished, the broadcast will be available for on demand viewing. We apologize for any inconvenience, and please check back soon. If you have any questions about your subscription, please email memberadmin@nfhsnetwork.com.
- If you do not have enough Internet bandwidth to open a web browser, call the NFHS Network Support Line at 877.339.7529 and ask the support agent to update your event's description for you.
